Supplies We Recommend for Movin' Monkeys Preschool
We suggest having a few key supplies on hand that your child can use during our preschool videos and play prompts.
We have tried to keep this list minimal, affordable, and easy for busy parents. A lot of these items you may already have. Don't feel like you need go buy brand new versions of everything. You can often make things work with whatever you have on hand!
A Fun Preschool Rug!
One thing we highly recommend purchasing is the rug! This is the same rug we use in our preschool videos, and it is an important tool to help make academic concepts more physical, sensory, and fun! As soon as you decide to do our program, we highly suggest ordering your rug so your child can have it ready. We recommend the Kev & Cooper Preschool Rug in the 3'3" x 4'7" size: https://amzn.to/3EEhSIx
Crayons
These are a classic preschool tool for a reason! Crayons are great for pre-writing and coloring skills, helping to build strength and fine motor development. If you don't already have some, we recommend a basic Crayola set like this: https://amzn.to/3bB8dWI
Markers
These are also great for our fine motor work, art projects, and labeling items for games. We recommend a washable Crayola set set like this: https://amzn.to/3CGXqGf
Colored Construction Paper
We will use colored paper in various projects. We recommend something like this: https://amzn.to/3bzZALX
Regular White Copy Paper
Whatever you have or something like this: https://amzn.to/2Y8vEn2
Glue Sticks
Glue sticks are great for quick paper gluing projects. We recommend the purple, jumbo kind: https://amzn.to/3q1IPSb
Glue
Liquid glue is useful for heavier duty projects, like gluing objects, nature items, collages, and more. We recommend Elmers: https://amzn.to/3bxrHvi
Kid Scissors
We work on pre-scissor skills to build the muscles and fine motor skills in the hand through various projects. We recommend Fiskars kids blunt tip scissors: https://amzn.to/3wa9TQq
Play Dough
This is a wonderful tool we use for strengthening the hands and sensory receptors, making academic concepts more fun and physical, exploring imagination and creativity, and just great for play! Make your own or use something like this: https://amzn.to/3CA5xEB
Watercolor Paint
Watercolor paint is wonderful because it gives your child a lot of color choices in an a small amount of space. Just make sure you have some chunkier brushes available too. We recommend a watercolor set like this: https://amzn.to/3CFb8tt
Washable Paint
We use washable project or (tempera) paint for lots of projects: painting with brushes, finger painting, stamping, color mixing, experiments, and more! You can grab lots of colors from your local dollar store, or we like this set: https://amzn.to/3GSX6Y8
Chunky Paintbrushes
The paintbrushes that come with most paint sets are tiny and hard for little hands to manipulate. Whether you're using watercolors or tempera paints, we recommend chunky brushes like these (but keep the tiny brushes for any detail work). Your child will have so much more creative control and will LOVE painting! https://amzn.to/3MiQP8Y
Sticky Notes
We use these for fun "hunts" around the house, sorting, ordering, and more. We suggest a set like this: https://amzn.to/3jYthLg
Painters or Masking Tape
We use these for making car tracks on the floor, jumping challenges, matching and framing activities, etc. https://amzn.to/3GRhRmT
A Pool Noodle
Grab one of these from the dollar store when they are in stock! We suggest cutting them in half for when we use them as swords, wands, horses, and other fun imaginary uses! We also cut them in fourths to use as safe rhythm sticks! In a pinch, you can also use wrapping paper or paper towel tubes. Or pick up these: https://amzn.to/2ZQVrB6
